In Hinduism and Schopenhauerian philosophy, suffering is the measure of evil an individual experiences. However... everything in nature has a purpose. By studying evolution it becomes clear that God has shaped the transmutation of species such that it is comprehensible to us. A butterfly has wings to reach flowers, a deer has horns to fend-off predators, a human has a mind to understand God.
We may thus ask ourselves, what is the purpose of suffering? But the answer is clear... it is meant to cause aversion and fear towards what is worth hating. As a gazelle is mortified by lions to save its life, as a human hates poverty to stay alive and feed his young, as we are afraid of error to know the truth.
Thus, the error of the Vedic religions and derivate philosophies, if we eliminate suffering we annihilate the very part of ourselves that keeps us away from what is truly evil, death, sickness, ignorance, poverty, selfishness, avarice and undeserved pride.
But let us go further, do we want Nirvana? A state where our consciousness is annihilated by removing the walls that separate our consciousness from others? It is claimed that such a state would remove ignorance and suffering. But once one has ultimate understanding of the world he has ultimate understanding of evil and suffering that permeates the universe. No human would stay indifferent to that and the suffering one would experience would be worthy of God and none other. However, Vedic religions teach of the annihilation of passions and aversions... Would anyone of us, had he been God, turn his face from the world once he knew it? Indeed, this is the evil of the Vedic religions, believing in one such God and that we may wish to imitate him...
Now, let us consider the Abrahamic religions... As we are taught... in Heaven there is no suffering and in Hell there is ultimate suffering... Only ignorance would keep those in Heaven happy. As knowing that there is anyone in Hell would trigger an empathic response which on its own would make Heaven Hell. Again YHWH proves to us that he is a god of blissful ignorance...
